Lol, its funny that apple is mentioned at MWC with out being their. Really shows how much reputation they have.

Indeed, this presentation makes my smile. Good Job Gionee!

    I'm particularly smiling about:
    - The Samsungesque design
    - The ridiculous "improvements" they're citing in the images from the new sensor, the bleached women/kid in the images look horrible and totally not flattering
    - The bilingual slides
    - The Apple references
    - Dual WhatsApp

I don't suppose the camera in the phone(s) Ian was using did the images justice.

Asians are pretty crazy over white skin, so the "bleaching" feature might be a big deal over there.

What exactly makes them think that a brand that very few europeans recognize can sell a smartphone with mostly mediocre hardware for 450€?
  • asfletch - Tuesday, February 23, 2016 - link

Agreed - 450€ (ie around US$499) for a phone with a processor that performs somewhere between a Snapdragon 617 and 625 is pretty ambitious. If I really wanted a P10 phone, I'd get the Elephone P9000 for closer to $200. I may not trust the brand any more than Gionee, but that phone is just gorgeous and doesn't look like a copied design (check Youtube reviews).

Argh no edit function...just realised the P9000 also has an RRP of US$499 ($200 is for P9000 Lite). What is with these Helio P10 phones being so much more expensive than the X10 crop from last year?
  • zeeBomb - Monday, February 22, 2016 - link

This will be an underrated phone...I think it'll perform well though.

never heard about this brand before and the name will be impossible to pronounce in a single way, americans will be be like "gyon-ee" while italians will be like "john-eh" and the germans "gyon-eh".

Plus S8 sounds liek a samsung.

Also citing another brand in your presentation? That's pretty weird.
