I use Maclocks security case and cable lock for my MacBook Air, found it after I was looking for a lock to my MBA for school, I take this to school, use the cable lock when I sit in the library or Starbucks, really works great for me
Yep, this is the best way for these high end compact devices. No one complains that their Lumia 900 came with soldered RAM because we're already using package-on-package for the lowest power chips. Laptops with catch up eventually...
It's their first IPS laptop display. I would think that getting a cheap panel at this res would take priority over the finer points of colour range and accuracy though.
The reason why Windows PCs don't have high DPI screens is because app support for it is horrible. Windows has supported it very well since XP, but the devs don't handle it.
It's easy to scale when you just have four pixels (two horizontal two vertical) for every one in the last one. All it has to do is double every pixel dimension to scale old apps.
Looks like some good innovations in there with the asymmetrical fan and the slots for cooling on three edges (the latter isn't new, but new to Apple at least, not sure about the first). I'm curious how cool and quiet this thing runs, fan noise is the bane of my existence (ok, a minor bane).
"This fan has been mentioned in almost all press on the MacBook Pro with Retina display. For $2200 of machine, a frequency dispersed fan doesn't seem reasonable to be a strong selling point; this sounds like a testament to Apple's marketing department."
It's hard to tell if the fan is running, even when playing a game. Yet it runs cool enough to stay on my lap while playing the game (Diablo III at 2880x1800, most settings max'd, Normal Act 3). I'd say the cooling system and fan noise is incredible.
OK, I put my ear down to hear the fan, and it's much more of a white noise rather than the usual turbine-sounding fan noise. Very nice.
The standard models are the same as last year just with Ivy Bridge, USB 3.0 etc. The major changes to this Retina MPB are cutting out the spinning disks and the screen.

What happened to the Kensington lock port? I don't suppose there's a Thunderbolt adapter for it...Heathmoor - Friday, June 15, 2012 - link
The card reader slot can probably do the job. After all, a hole is a hole.LoriNYC - Monday, June 18, 2012 - link

Not sure they already have a lock for the new MBP but I guess it's just a matter of weeks

I wonder if the screen is as good as the one on the new iPad ... the full sRGB gamut etc.zorxd - Monday, June 11, 2012 - link
It is much better, larger and more pixels.tipoo - Monday, June 11, 2012 - link
I'm curious about that too, the new iPad had nearly perfect sRGB.Zink - Monday, June 11, 2012 - link

Are the new MBP models missing a CD/DVD drive?Zink - Monday, June 11, 2012 - link

There is a standard 15" and a retina one, the retina one ditches the optical drive, the rest still have it.
