Btw this build has transparency blur (Aero) but there's a 50/50 chance you will have it enabled by default. MS want to see which people prefer - transparency or transparency + blur.
If you want to enable blur then hit the Windows key and type "regedit" then hit CTRL + F and search for "EnableBlurBehind" and change the setting to 1. Then restart.
After restart you may have to resize the Start menu to full screen and minimise it again for it to work (this is a bug I encountered).
These builds are getting more and more unstable as they replace Windows 8.1's incredibly good UI with garbage for people who still believe Windows XP was good. Among the issues: -Maximized start menu taking up only 75% of the screen with all buttons moved that far in -Pressing resize when in tablet mode (is supposed to disappear but doesn't all the time) -Closing the last application in tablet mode pops up cortana (WTF?) -Using tablet mode disables access to the desktop and taskbar, but does not hide taskbar (someone must have been drunk from the start of the 10000 branch)
Not a single rumor has said June as a release. The earliest was the AMD rumor saying July. Regardless how do you even know if the builds are unstable since you clearly haven't installed it or you'd know that Cortana needs to be explicitly enabled?
The issue isn't the preview not being stable at first, the issue is that it's less stable now than the update before, and that update was less stable than the one before.
And that's before taking into account the loss of usability on touch screens, now you risk hitting the power button every time you search for installed programs!
One of my points got cut off and I couldn't edit it: "-Pressing resize when in tablet mode (is supposed to disappear but doesn't all the time)" Should be: "-Pressing resize when in tablet mode (is supposed to disappear but doesn't all the time), causes start menu, right click, and touch to stop responding (tabbing into an open program fixes it, but not all touch devices have physical keyboards)"
"Unlike the last build, this one is also available to the Slow Ring so people will be able to download the ISO for this version"
They seem to have misunderstood the concept of fast vs slow distribution tiers. They're meant to push stuff to fast first, and then push it to slow after it has proven itself. Not just push to fast and slow simultaneously, for builds that are destined for slow.
Opened "Project Spartan" after the update and got a splash screen welcoming me to "Edge"... haven't seen it since though. Perhaps a hint at the release name for the browser?
I'm hoping for a October release for 10. I'm dreading that we may get a July early release of 10 and then have to put up with a 10.1 update release fixing everything 6 months later. This strategy sucks when 99% of domestic laptops and PCs come with set recovery partitions that then require a full 4GB 'update' after rebuilding to be up to date.
The strategy that has been teased so far is frequent updates to Win10 even immediately after RTM. In fact, I believe there is a rumor floating out there of the first "service pack" if you want to call it that, coming out this fall. So, the question is if it is stable for the majority of insiders using it than why not release it to mfr's and update it frequently through out the year? What difference would it make?
Stability isn't that good but at least they are trying to fix the UI that so many people hated in Windows 8. The new start menu doesn't look that good though. Live tiles are useless for me and the first thing I would do with Windows 10 would be to install a 3rd party start menu replacement.
I havent been able to update my Win10 beta install since the 9xxx series. It tells me I need to change my BIOS settings, but Im running it in Bootcamp on an iMac. So I dont know what I even could do, since there is no BIOS on a mac.
10074 acts a bit weird for me... I had to disable sleep state for disk since it kind of forgets to wake it up again after that and it won't appear until I shut down computer, keep it shutted down for a few seconds and then turn it on again (hard reset button doesn't help, the SSD won't appear in the ICH drive list). Sometimes it locks the drive same way on login screen. Hopefully next version fixes this, else I'll have to try with virgin install.
This build of win10 has a lovely new feature, and by lovely, I mean awful. every time you start a game, it has to show the messages "press win+G to open the game bar" "you can record videos with win+r" "you can stop recording video with win+alt+t" EVERY TIME A GAME IS OPENED. It's incredibly annoying, and there doesn't appear to be a way to turn the thing off.

"Windows 10 Build 10076"Think you mean 10074?

Cor, imagine that, a preview not being stable!? I never knew... .I think we know that Windows 8.1 is dead and gone. I liked it but, as usual, the negative people win.

It's almost May and the rumours are targeting June as relase. One could expect the OS to be a bit more polished at this point.Pushing cortana everywhere... I hope that shit can be disabled entirely.

Are you saying 10074 is not stable? Cause, I'm not seeing any issues yet. Perhaps it's your machine?sweenish - Thursday, April 30, 2015 - link
None of what you detailed relates to stability.basroil - Thursday, April 30, 2015 - link

You can disable live tiles or even remove em altogether. That's a non-issue.hrmes - Thursday, April 30, 2015 - link
Yes, but then you have a lot of empty unused space where they used to be and it look rather ugly...Makaveli - Thursday, April 30, 2015 - link
Agreed I was right clicking and removing live titles last night cleaned up the menu nicely.Oxford Guy - Sunday, May 3, 2015 - link
Being able to disable something does not make it a "non-issue".The UI should be designed as much as possible to be good out of the box.
