Interesting. 2016 is lining up to be a good year for phone SoCs. Hopefully this means a continuation of the "great phones for decent prices" mid-range we've seen this year.
Will be interesting to see how the 650 compares to the 808.
Indeed, based on this comparison with Kirin 950 and SD 820 both at 2.2GHz (http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/compare/... the SD 652 would score ~5200 in MT overall, and ~1600 ST assuming memory controller is not screwed up. That beats the 820 on MT and is very close to Exynos 7420 on either.
This year's high-end will be next year's mid-end... And the high-end will be a close battle between Cortex-A72, Kyro and Exynos M1.
hehe the biggest difference will be the price. No idea how big these are but size, process and yield should result in 2-3 times lower costs. We'll see how much pricing pressure X20 applies on these, with some luck Moto G type of devices could use em. As for devices, CES is less than 3 weeks away and at least 4 devices with the 65X showed up in benchmarks so far , so CES it is.
I feel like it should have been called 648/650 respectively...like I can see a manufacturer get more 650s than the 652. At least we know the A9 will have it...and it does make the naming a lot more clearer.
For my usage, no games, but pretty much everything else, this would be a good upgrade to the SD400 in my phone now. If I could find a 6" with one of these chips, with around a 4,000mAH battery, to match what I have now, that also has the USA LTE frequencies, for around $400, I might buy one. Otherwise, I'll just keep my Mate2. EXCELLENT value for the money.
Hey!can someone help me?I am between a device with a sd810 and a device with a sd650,now my concern is that 650 is a new SoC compared to sd810 and i dont know if the 2xA72 can give advantages in everyday use. Thanks!!

And against the 820 too, those 4 A72s would be quite high performance.Wilco1 - Thursday, December 17, 2015 - link

better just look at 650 and 652 results instead of guessing http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/compare/...The Xiaomi is likely at 1.7GHz and the software likely not be final.

Current benchmarks show that its CPU performs about the same as the Exynos 7420, and its GPU is a slightly better than the Adreno 330 of the 801.skavi - Thursday, December 17, 2015 - link
Pretty impressive given its older manufacturing process.tipoo - Thursday, December 17, 2015 - link

Hopefully these are used on a lot of mid/low range devices -- these will definitely provide a significant bump in performance to current SD6xx parts!zeeBomb - Thursday, December 17, 2015 - link

Is 1080p90 a typo?At http://www.anandtech.com/show/9184/arm-reveals-cor... the A72 was supposed to be at 14/16nm, what went wrong?
Mobile-Dom - Friday, December 18, 2015 - link
the A72 was made to be made on anything from 28nm to 14nm and all inbetween, A72s on 28nm provide power at much lower cost.tohugh i really wish they'd nixed the 28nm HPM and gone with the 22nm GloFo FD-SOI

No matter what the performance we have Microsoft to gobble up any sub-optimal leftover Qualcomm chips for Lumia's as Windows 10 Mobile limps along.p51d007 - Wednesday, December 30, 2015 - link
